What surprises most people is that it’s rarely about income, airline status, or how often someone travels. It usually comes down to how they pack.
Over the years, I’ve spoken to plenty of regular travellers who haven’t paid a checked baggage fee in years. Not because they pack less — but because they pack differently.
Checked Bags Add Up Faster Than People Realise
Most travellers think of baggage fees as a one-off annoyance.
But when you look at the numbers, they stack up quickly.
On many routes, a checked bag costs anywhere from $30 to $100 each way. Do that two or three times a year and you’re suddenly spending $250 just to transport clothes.
